Hey,
I am now completely moved up to the new digs in the woods, and life is beginning to settle down as boxes are unpacked and my body learns where all the new light switches are...the black flies have been a nuisance, but other than that the new place is idyllic and sweet.
However, one setback is that I no longer have hi-speed access at home, so as a result my updates to this site have been infrequent...plus I have not been very focused on music while the move was on. So what's new on the music front? Well, Bob Federer and I have been playing dates with the Hupman Brothers, and THIS SATURDAY (May 30) they will be having a cd release show at the Al Whittle Theatre in Wolfville. Other guests include Brian Chipman on harp and a ripping horn section comprised of Ian Sherwood, Ariana Nasr, and Coco Love Alcorn! This is a show you will kick yourself for missing, so avoid self abuse and attend!
Let me also say that the Hupmans' new cd, Countin' Quarters, is absolutely stunning...each tune is a gem, alternating between horn-driven uptempo blues and gentle, eloquent acoustic meditations...the recording is superb, no fancy production tricks to get in the way of the down-home, straight-from-the-heart lyrics...and as much as I admire Ryan Hupman's soulful guitar playing, his warm and up-close vocals just blow me away...I have played this cd constantly for a week now and I'm only loving it more and more!
So, the gist of it is this: see you at the Hupmans' CD RELEASE May 30, buy their cd cuz it rocks, and look for me around the Valley both solo and with Titanic Proportions...you may also want to come down to the End Of The Line Pub on a Wednesday night, our open mics have been brimming over with local talent and appreciative audiences! Music is fun, I'm telling ya!
